Diagnostic Use

Enumeration of lymphocytes - CD3+ T cells, CD3+CD4+ T helper cells, CD3+CD8 cytotoxic T cells, CD19+ B cells, CD16/56+ NK cells.

EDTA samples must arrive within 24 hours of venesection for viable testing.
Assay is run within routine hours only (08:00 - 16:30 Monday-Friday), samples MUST arrive before 14:00 on a Friday.

A CBC with differential is an essential component of this test, please request in addition to LSMA. If the sample will take more than 6 hours to reach the Immunology laboratory please perform the CBC at the referring laboratory and send the result with the sample.

Refrigerated samples are unacceptable.

2 x 5 mL EDTA blood (1 x EDTA - Immuno and1 x EDTA Haem).
1 x 5ml EDTA blood is sufficient only if the CBCD has already been performed by the requestor and the result is provided to CHL. Send at room temperature ASAP.
