NMO will also be tested on MOG requests.
MOG (myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein) antibodies have been reported in some children (but few adults) with ADEM or MS, and more recently, in patients with neuromyelitis optica negative for NMO (AQP4) antibodies (Kitley, Woodhall et al Neurology 2012)
Negative NMO-IgG does not exclude the presence of a neuromyelitis optica (NMO)-related disease. NMO-IgG has a sensitivity and specificity of 60-75% and 90-99% respectively for NMO-related diseases (Jacob et al., J Neuroimmunology 187:126-138, 2007)
